Deir
el Bahari, the mortuary temple of Hatshepsut, is cut into a rock face, instead
of being free-standing. It is approached from quite a distance, and on first
sight, it does not look like any other Egyptian building.
Some
details from around the lower galleries
It's
only when you get closer the Osiris figures can be seen. The site is sacred
to Hathor, the cow headed goddess. Hatshepsut's husband, Thutmosis III also
has his temple within this complex.
